Balbina Fiahlo Medeiros

Balbina Fiahlo Medeiros passed away peacefully at her home in Modesto on January 6, 2018 at the age of 81.  Balbina was born on October 30, 1936 to Jose and Anna Fiahlo in Faial, Azores.  Balbina lived in the bay area for several years where she worked for Hewlett Packard for 19 years in Cupertino and then retired to Modesto in 2000 where she remained until her passing.  Balbina loved to sing.  She was involved with the church choir for many years.  She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.  She was a loving and generous wife, mother and grandmother that will be deeply missed.

Balbina leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Jose Medeiros, her children, Anna Goulart (Carlos) and Joseph Medeiros (Elizabeth) and her grandchildren, Julia Goulart, Janna Goulart, Fabian Medeiros, Sabastian Medeiros and Farrah Medeiros. She also leaves behind two nieces in San Jose, California and numerous extended family in the Azores.  She is preceded in death by her son, Jose Medeiros, two sisters and one brother.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel.  A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 18th beginning at 4:00 PM at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Riverbank with a vigil service to begin at 6:00 PM.  A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, January 19th at 11:00 AM also at St. Frances of Rome Church, followed by a committal service at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Escalon.  Donations in Balbina’s memory may be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation.
