I have fond memories of my time with John. He was my boyfriend in high school and has always held a special place in my heart. I remember many wonderful times together going to his combat plane meets with his dad, spending a summer and winter at his family cabin with the whole family playing a group solitaire game and laughing like crazy, learning to drive a stick shift in his Celica, and most of all the Christmas he gave me my wonderful dog Teddy.

I agree with my friend Kris, when John smiled his eyes smiled too. My deepest condolences to his whole family.

As I sit here this morning, I ponder the loss of a great man and a good friend. Johnny was fierce. Having known him for twenty years on the soccer pitch as a teammate and good friend, I have seen the joy and ferocity with which he lived his life. He was a man who lived life on his terms. Sure, he could be stubborn at times, but there was never any doubt of his loyalty or friendship. If Johnny loved you, you know he had your back. I will miss his quick wit, his easy going way of living life, and his generosity with a smile and a joke. My condolences to Susie and the family. John was a candle that burned brightly and I can only imagine how his light is missed. I think fondly of Johnny, and admire his zest for life. Be at peace my friend. -Rob

My deepest sympathy to all of John's family. In all the years we played soccer together or against each other, he was always positive and friendly . It was always better to play on the same team because playing against him meant not being able to get past him much. As a teammate , he was not only a tough last line of defense, he was also the person who had your back no matter what. Loyal, trustworthy, good disposition and determined are only some of his attributes we will miss at Amigos FC.

We will miss you on the soccer field my friend. Thanks for the goodbye beer last Sunday after the game. I hope there is a nice soccer field in the other life so you keep having fun and one day we get to play soccer again. Rest in peace.

Have seen John almost every Sunday for the past two decades, always with a smile and a fist-bump for our soccer for the day. Will miss the ever-present smile and fist-bump to kickoff another day of soccer and good times. My deepest condolences to the family, I'm sure he's kicking a ball someplace.

John was such a wonderful spirited person in my life. I didn't have too many friends, but John was my best fiend's boyfriend. With that said, John was my friend as well.
John had an incredible spirit and loved life. When he smiled, his eyes smiled as well. I will never forget those smiling eyes.

My greatest condolences to Susan, the kids and all his family..
I had the pleasure to have known "Johnny" for many years and to be the recipient of his wonderful wit and watch his caring attitude for others.
I will miss him immensely, especially his smile and calming attitude. I loved playing futbol (aka soccer) with him, not only for his great skills but for his uplifting attitude, always cheering for all teammates.
Everybody in the Amigos FC club send their sympathy to the family.
