Welcome to the memorial page for

Lewis Eisenga

July 26, 1925 ~ November 27, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Lewis Eisenga passed away at his home on November 27, 2017 at the age of 92.  His home was on the same property in Ripon where he had been born to Eme and Zwaantje Eisenga on July 26, 1925.  "Uncle Louie" was raised with 9 siblings and was preceded to death by his wife and love his live for 65 years, Olga Cerrato Eisenga; his parents; his brothers Mike, Charley, infant brother Raymond, Eme; sisters Rena, Dorothy, and infant sister Sadie.  He is survived by his brother Raymond (Turk) of Modesto and his sister-in-law, Eleanor Mejia of Ripon.

Although Uncle Louie was basically a quiet and sometimes shy person, he had a passion for many things. He was a lifelong farmer of almonds, raised cattle and grew alfalfa.  He and his wife Olga were a great team, working side by side in their orchard or in their yard. He was a math wizard, being able to look at his trees and determine the amount of money that his crop would produce per acre without a calculator.  He had a competitive streak and so look forward to his weekly outings on Wednesday and Thursday to play cards in Escalon and Oakdale with his friends. He took great pride in coming home after a profitable card game.  He loved western movies and especially loved his yearly birthday parties where he looked forward to having one of his favorites...carrot cake.

Uncle Louie proudly and honorably served his County by serving in the Marines in WWII.  He earned two purple hearts as a result of injuries he received an June 17, 1944 in Saipan and on February 21, 1945 in Iwo Jima.

Uncle Louie was very fortunate to have been cared for in his home since 2013 and received exceptional care from his four care takers; Anna Muratalla, Stephanie Santos, Carmina Paniagua and Rhonda Chavez.  They can all be accused of spoiling Uncle terribly and being able to survive his constant kidding.  The family is eternally grateful to these four women for their kindness and compassion in caring for Uncle and consider them all to now be "family".

A special and very sincere "thank you" needs to be made to Dave and Debbie Phippen. Dave always found the time in his already busy schedule to make sure things were running smoothly in the home and that Uncle was happy.  Dave and Uncle always tried to see who could get the best of each other and of course they always had to talk about their crops.  We need to say that we have come to feel that Dave has been the son that Uncle Louie never had.  "THANK YOU" Debbie for letting us borrow your husband to handle everything on the "farm".

The family wishes to thank Community Hospice for their support and exceptional care of Uncle in his home. Thank you to nieces Sharee Eisenga of Walnut Creek who is a Registered Nurse and niece Lynda Plancarte who is a Social Worker for their assistance and support for Dave and the care takers.  Dave, Sharee, Lynda, Anna, Stephanie, Carmina and Rhonda were all members of what became known as "Team Louie" and made sure that Uncle's needs were always met, that he was happy and comfortable.
