Wilhelmina Levering

Wilhelmina Weststeyn Levering, born January 1, 1920 in Alvord, Iowa, was the youngest of 5 Weststeyn children. With her family at her side, she went home to be with her Lord on February 10, 2017 at the age of 97.

She is survived by her children Judy Stueven, Mary Pranger (Bernie), Roger Levering (Diane), Henry Levering (Virginia), Wilene Lucinian (Larry), 21 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Wilhelmina is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Julius, son Jerry, parents Jacobus and Johanna Weststeyn, sisters Pearl Hoff and Ann Boersma, brothers John Weststeyn, Art Weststeyn, grandsons Eugene Stueven and Bryan Holtrop and son-in-law Loren Stueven.

After serving in multiple churches through the Midwest and Canada, “Willie”, as she was fondly called, settled in Ripon 32 years ago. Her life reflected the virtues of the passage in Proverbs 31. She took on with earnest the responsibilities of being a supportive, loving, hardworking and wise wife of Jude and mother to their 6 children. She enjoyed being of service to others through her quilting, crocheting, knitting, cooking and gardening. Many were blessed with her handmade afghans and by her volunteer work with Calvary Church and the local food pantry.

Her family remembers her positive attitude with whatever circumstances life brought her way. Willie’s legacy to her family is an inspiring role model… loving, strong and smiling. Special memories of unlimited board and card games, her expertise in the kitchen (yes, that ‘mean’ fried chicken) and numerous family trips will always be cherished. She will be greatly missed by all.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapels. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 4-7pm at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel, 111 South Palm Avenue in Ripon. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 10am at Ripon Cemetery, 320 North Stockton Avenue, followed by a Memorial Service at Calvary Reformed Church, 741 2nd Street in Ripon at 11am.
