Ada May Reece

It is with rejoicing that on September 2, 2023, Ada May Reece exchanged her earthy home for a Heavenly one. She is now united with Jesus and reunited with her family and many friends. Ada was born on November 6, 1929, to Elmer and Martha (Bettis) Reece in the small town of Sawyer, Kansas. In 1935 her family moved to Fairview, Missouri to be closer to the rest of the Reece family, and then in 1944 her family moved again to Modesto, California. In 1953 Ada began working at Woodbridge Market near the 99 highway as a cashier and stocker, doing so for nearly ten years. Beginning in 1963, she had the opportunity to train at the Modesto State Hospital as a psychiatric nurse. After this training was completed, she continued in this vocation and became a registered nurse. In 1966 she was then employed by Doctors Medical Center, from where she retired in 1997. After retirement Ada volunteered as a tutor for young children who needed help with reading. She was also an active attendee of the First Baptist Church, Bible Study Fellowship and volunteered on many committees within her church. Those preceding Ada in death were her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Harold and Katherine Wolf, great infant niece Susan Fisher, and great niece Corrie (Miller) Bauman. Those remaining here are three nieces and one nephew: Neva (Gene) Fisher, Carolyn (Harlan) Miller, Mary (John) Miller and Gayle (Margie) Wolf. She is also survived by many great and great great nieces and nephews. Viewing and Services will be at the Wood Colony Cemetery, 3511 N. Dakota Avenue, Modesto, on September 23, 2023. The viewing will begin at 9:30am and services at 10.
