Adrian DeKruyf

December 7, 1934 ~ July 7, 2020 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Tribute

Adrian DeKruyf, age 85, passed away in his home on July 7, 2020.  Adrian was born to Nicholas and Johanna (Vander Stelt) DeKruyf on December 7, 1934 in Brooten, Minnesota.  He was raised and worked on the family farm with his 3 sisters and 7 brothers where he began to develop his strong work ethic.  He enlisted and served 2 years in the army and upon discharge, he moved to Artesia, California where he met Margaret Elizabeth teVelde.  They were wed on March 7, 1958.  They started their family in Artesia before relocating to San Jose in 1967.  Adrian managed Dext Feed Company for over 30 years, working with local bakeries and manufacturing animal feed.  After Adrian retired, he and Margaret moved to Ripon, California in 2003 where they enjoyed the small town and close connections with family and friends.

Adrian not only known as a hard worker but also a great storyteller to all who ever met him.  Many knew him by the nickname Ace or AceRod for the years of the Fernglen Ford years.  He enjoyed many hobbies over the years.  Fishing was a favorite.  He and Margaret took many trips in their motorhome around the United States and he often found a lake to throw his rod into.  Over the years, he took hunting and fishing trips with his brothers and nephews.  He passed the love of the sport to his son and even to a couple of his grandsons.  He restored two pick up trucks back to their original beauty before picking up the wood working hobby.  He created many pieces of furniture for his home and many others who benefited from his craft.  He took pride in knowing his infamous wooden trash cans were in many states and even foreign countries.

Adrian was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margaret who passed in 2013.  He is survived by a devoted family that made sure his needs were met in his last year when his physical demands were greatest:  Brenda Huegin (Gene) of New Braunfels, TX, Barbara Sindlinger (Jeff) of Visalia, CA, Brian DeKruyf (Marcy) of Ripon, CA and Beverly Andersen (Eric) of Kent, WA, 5 grandchildren (Kurt, Garrett, Drew, Shane and Claire) and 2 great grandchildren (Adeline and Brandt).

Our family thanks you for all your prayers, messages and kind notes.  Donations in his honor can be made to Almond Valley Christian Reformed Church Deacon’s Fund.
