Alice Brown

January 15, 1927 ~ September 17, 2022 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Tribute

Alice Kinder Brown was the third of three children born in El Paso, Texas on January 15, 1927 & entered eternal rest peacefully in the presence of her family on September 17, 2022 in Ripon. She lived a long, rich & beautiful generously loving Christian life.

She and her family barely survived the Great Depression & moved to California in her childhood. She married the love of her life, Dr. Glen Brown in 1946 when he returned home from WWII. Glen always said she was the most beautiful girl he had ever met. Together they had two daughters, Betty & Mary.

Alice graduated from Hartnell College & worked briefly as a teacher in Half Moon Bay. Her life was devoted to her husband, family and her Christian faith. She sang like an angel even in the last days of her life & loved to write poems.

She was a true partner keeping up with the energetic schedule of a very active & adventurous husband. Over their 68 years together they owned flying schools, crop dusting companies, and eventually her husband attended college & medical school at UCSF. They established Manteca Medical Group in Manteca in 1963. They spent a great deal of time in the great outdoors, hunting & fishing. They shared the love of those adventures with their daughters and granddaughters. They maintained a second home in Dixie, Idaho for thirty years & loved that community of great people. Alice held a private pilot license & enjoyed all the flying adventures she & Glen shared until Glen’s death in 2015. Until the day of his death they held hands, kissed & hugged each other their devotion & love was so strong

After her children left for college & careers, Alice assuaged her empty nest syndrome with a series of pampered rescue dogs & birds that were treated as European royalty. One of her friends remarked that in the next lifetime, he wanted to “return as one of Alice’s dogs”. She was a creative homemaker & enjoyed her home in its unique presence. Her strong religious faith was unshakeable & she was always there for any family member in need. Her 3 granddaughters learned early in life to call her from school, rather than their mothers, to come get them if they felt sick. She would immediately do a fast food drive-through & turn on Disney movies for her day of pampering with the girls in their uniquely animal quilted sleeping bags. She was known for her great generosity & devotion to others.

Alice was preceded in death by her lifelong best friend & husband of 68 years Glen, & will be deeply missed by her daughters Dr. Betty Ingell (Walter) of Ripon, & Mary Quirit (Michael) of Monterey. She leaves a generational legacy of three beautiful granddaughters: Dr. Sarah Williams of Napa, Marina Quirit Russo (Marc) of Monterey, & Rachael Romine of Woodbridge; as well as four precious great-grandchildren, Amelia Williams, Adelyn (Addy) Romine, Rosemary (Rosie) Romine & Mario Antonio Russo. She is also survived by her greatly loved nephew Gary Feldman & family in Utah & niece Rebekah Alpisa in Washington. She & her husband were lifelong close friends with the Eavenson families of Ripon and Manteca. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Ira Kinder, her sister Ruth Feldman & brother James Kinder.

A private family memorial is planned as she wished. Alice Brown was unforgettable & irreplaceable to her family who adored her. As a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, Alice has found peace in God’s arms. The family is forever grateful to the many wonderful members of the staff’s at Beth Haven & Bethany Home Society for the kind loving care of their matriarch. Great gratitude is extended to Dr. Anil Sain for caring for Alice over many years of her life. She & her husband will be buried together in the great outdoors under a beautiful tree. Remembrances in her memory may be made to Bethany Home Society, your local animal shelter, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
