Alice Irene Callicoat “Nana”

Nov. 10, 1924 – Sept. 29, 2020

Alice Callicoat peacefully passed away at the age of 95, with her loving family by her side. Alice was born November 10, 1924 to Ora and Grace Tingley in Springfield, Ohio and was one of nine siblings. Alice grew up living a simple life filled with many happy times spent with her large family. While attending church, she met a handsome young man named Kenneth Callicoat. Meanwhile, after graduating from Springfield High School and waiting for her love to come home from the war, she worked in an office at a factory. On June 8, 1946, Kenneth and Alice married and began their beautiful life together. Together they built a home and had three daughters. In 1965, Kenneth’s career took the family to Dublin, California. A few years later, their fourth daughter would complete their beautiful family. After several moves, the family finally settled in Escalon.

Nana loved her family beyond measure, took care of everyone she had the pleasure to know and love. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and was famous for her potato salad and deviled eggs. Nana had the best sense of humor and always made you laugh. She enjoyed trips to Reno with her oldest daughter, Brenda and taking trips out of state to visit her daughters and sisters. She was a fabulous piano player and could play any song just by listening to it. She was a member of the Escalonia Chapter order of the Eastern Star and North Modesto Church of God. Her youngest daughter, Lori was not only her friend but was her caretaker until her passing.

Nana leaves behind all these wonderful people who loved her so much. Her daughters; Brenda (David) Fitzpatrick of Grass Valley, Joyce Martin of Ohio, Kay (Tom) Sinapole of Missouri and Lori (Nick) Bavaro of Escalon, her grandchildren; Stacey and Stevie of Ohio, Shannon and Molly of CA, Jennifer and Katie of Missouri, Jake and Maddy of CA, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Nana was the “Lone survivor” out of her 8 siblings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth who passed away May 29, 2005.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 4:00 PM with a Chapel service to follow at 5:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Community Hospice.
