Arthur “Art” Walter Novetzke, Jr.
February 4, 1939 – February 17, 2021
Arthur Walter Novetzke, Jr., 82, peacefully passed away February 17, 2021 with his loving family by his side. Art was born February 4, 1939 to Arthur and Frances Novetzke in Stockton, California and was a lifelong resident of San Joaquin County. Art served in the United States Army in 1957 and then enlisted with the Army National Guard from 1959 -1966 in the Artillery/Infantry 5th Division. After being Honorably Discharged from The U.S. Army, Art began a career in the Structural Steel industry as an Iron Worker. Throughout his 40-year career he was employed by George Raab Civil Engineers, Valley Steel, Western States Steel, Bambacigno Steel and Stockton Steel. He was a member of the Iron Worker Local 790 Motorcycle club (one-time Vice President), a Junior Member of the Port Stockton Motorcycle club and parishioner of St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church. Art loved spending time with his grandchildren, boating and frequenting Jackson Rancheria with Marge.
Art is survived by his children, Mark De Bottis of Modesto; Tim Novetzke of Escalon; Bill Novetzke of Escalon; George Eatough of Woodbridge. Grandchildren, Kira Adams, Mark De Bottis, Jr., Brien Novetzke, Benjamin Novetzke, Greta Eatough, James Eatough Helton, Anna Eatough Helton and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Marge Novetzke, son; Steven De Bottis, siblings; James Novetzke, Freddy Novetzke and his parents, Arthur, Sr. and Frances Novetzke and stepmother, Maxine Novetzke.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. Services will be held Friday, February 26, 2021 with a viewing at 10:00 a.m., Recitation of the Rosary at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 12:00 p.m. A Committal service will be held at Stockton Rural Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., followed by Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #263.
