Barbara Meredith, known by her friends and family as “Bobbie,” was born on February 25, 1948 in Waukegan, Illinois to Roald Koller and Lois Hart. Bobbie worked at Lockheed Missiles and Space in Information Technology both in Austin, Texas and Santa Clara, California.
Bobbie had longtime friends, Janie and Joni, who started their friendship from the days they all lived in the San Jose area. When Janie moved to Morro Bay, Bobbie and Joni would often visit; staying in the Morro Bay area the month of August, enjoying their time together. Bobbie would often talk about how much she looked forward to these get-togethers, and this summer she went to visit Joni at her home in Texas. This visit was a true blessing for Bobbie.
Bobbie enjoyed gardening. Her partner John, who was the “love of her life” for nearly 40 years, put in a hobby garden for her to take care of while she was able. She hosted Christmas and other gatherings for loved ones and extended family often in her Ripon home that she loved.
Bobbie loved hummingbirds and enjoyed having feeders in the garden for them. She had a vast collection of sculptures, jewelry, trinkets, and wall art with hummingbirds throughout her life. She also had occasional visits of rabbits in her backyard often leaving them carrots to munch on as treats. Bobbie recently adopted a dog named “Scruffy” who brought her joy and great companionship.
She loved taking pictures and had an extensive collection of photo albums collected of friends and extended family spanning nearly 30 years. She often thought of others and has been generous in many ways throughout her life. This includes extended family and those she did not know.
She lived several years in the “Oakland Hills,” and sailed with her partner on occasion on a “Columbia 26” berthed in Emeryville. She spent time at their Clear Lake home overlooking the lake where she invited loved ones to watch fireworks on the 4th of July to celebrate Independence Day eventually moving to Ripon to be closer to family.
Bobbie leaves behind the people in her life she considered family, John & Diane, Jess, June & Mike, Rebecca & Jacob, Kelly, Kristina & Abram, John Galen, and also her dear friend Joni.
Bobbie passed away November 25th, 2023. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Modesto Kaiser ICU who cared for Bobbie especially Jyzlle and Jasmine. It brought peace and great comfort that she was so well taken care of while there. Bobbie will be missed by many for her kindness and compassion and remembered by her friends and family.
