Clarence Hubert Blixt

Clarence Blixt, a near life-long resident of Escalon, passed away August 18, 2017, at age 89..

Following four years of military service with the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command, Clarence accepted a position with Hogan Manufacturing, Inc. in Escalon in 1954, and retired after working there  for 38 years.  

Clarence served on the Escalon Planning Commission, was past president of the Escalon Lions Club, and  a member of Escalon’s Trinity Church.  In 2007, he and his wife, Elizabeth, were Mr. and Mrs. Senior Escalon.  Clarence’s hobbies included collecting and restoring Packard automobiles for which he won many awards and trophies, and he was founder and president of the Northern California Packard Club.  Clarence enjoyed boating, water skiing, snow skiing, ice skating and touring with local and international Packard clubs.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth; a sister, Pauline Heard of Escalon, two nephews and four nieces.  His brother, Gordon, preceded him in death.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, August 29, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Deegan Escalon Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St., Escalon.  Friends are invited to attend a graveside service Wednesday, August 30, 11 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 E. River Rd, Escalon.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Blixt will be held Saturday, September 2, 11 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 2619 N. Berkeley Ave, Turlock, followed by a reception at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in memory of Clarence Blixt to the Benevolent Fund at Covenant Village of Turlock, or to the First Presbyterian Church of Turlock Building Expansion Fund.
