May 22, 1948 ~ February 4, 2021 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Tribute

Davell Cleo Dickens was born May 22, 1948 to Cleo and Mildred Dickens in Newton County, Missouri.  The Dickens Family made the journey out to California when Davell was just an infant. He remained a lifelong resident of Valley Home and Oakdale until his passing February 4, 2021 after a sudden illness.

Davell was a graduate of Oakdale High School where his accomplishments in sports, particularly baseball, made memories he would cherish for a lifetime.  His passion for sports shined through his coaching, whether it be Little League baseball or the infamous Moonlighters Men's Softball team.  Some of his most memorable times were spent with good friends on annual hunting and fishing trips. Upon retirement, Davell was a loyal patron of the Cow Track and enjoyed watching sports and old Westerns.  Davell was proud to be a  member in the Valley Home community where he served for many years as a loyal volunteer for the Valley Home Fire Department. He was a lifelong employee to Knudsen Nursery.  Davell will be remembered fondly for his tall imagination and mischevious pranks.

Davell was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Mildred Dickens and his brother Stevie Dickens.  He is survived by his children; Leandra Spence, Gregory Dickens, and Katherine Dickens, all of Oakdale, grandchildren; Jaycee Spence, Kenzie Spence, and Levi Dickens. Graveside services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park on Friday, March 19th at 1:00p.m.
