Tribute

Don loved his family and was a family man. Being a husband, father, and grandfather was his greatest accomplishment in life and his greatest adventure. Not only did he have two biological daughters of his own, but he obtained (kicking and screaming, of course) several adopted daughters and even an adopted son. Some days, he would wake up and get ready for work and would be unsure which fourteen kids would be at his house on any given afternoon. He nearly went broke trying to keep everyone happy and fed on pizza from Naughty Nicks and entertained with money for the games. Eventually, he would ask his daughters, “When are you moving out?” Funny thing is, after we both moved out and into our own homes, he would constantly call and ask “When are you coming over to see dear old Dad?”

Don had an outrageous sense of humor and loved to share it with anyone he could. As an example, a former boss presented him with a certificate recognizing his effort to convince everyone that they needed to experience the PERFECT WORLD and to quit ruining it for him. He will no doubt keep his companions in the afterlife laughing for all eternity.

Don was a truck driver for over 40 years and hauled everything from produce to car parts. He was frequently heard complaining about his job, but deep down we all knew he loved doing it. After he retired in 2016, his hobbies included watching YouTube videos, playing instigator between his two daughters, lovingly teasing his two grandsons, and having “selective hearing” when it came to his wife. On several occasions, she had to throw something at him to get him to pay attention to what she was saying. He passed on with several dents in his head.

All joking aside, he was a great support to his family and he loved them very much, always striving to do what he could to help them whenever anyone of them was in need. His big heart, warm hugs, infectious laugh and smile will be greatly missed.
