Edward J Swier

March 4, 1924 ~ April 14, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Edward John Swier, 93, was received by his Lord and Savior, Jesus, on April 14, 2017 in Ripon. He was born on March 4, 1924 and now joins both his late wives, Magdalena Swier and Norma Swier, both marriages lasting 30 years each. He is also preceded in death by his son Walter Swier, his brothers Cornelius and John Swier, and his sister Margaret Engelsman. Ed will be missed by his loving children, Barbara (Peter) Swier-Sugia, Helen (Steve) Landreth, Phyllis (Jerry) Hiemstra, Russ (Jeannie) Swier, his stepchildren Sue (Bill) Jamison, Jim (Mary) Vermeulen, Tom (Rochelle) Vermeulen and Patti (Dale) Van Groningen. Ed will also be dearly missed by his 22 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and his sister Gertrude Korver.

Ed was a man of great faith and put his trust in God, his Father. He was a loving, affectionate, fun, mischievous, and honorable man. He co-owned Swier Tire Company for 40 years. Ed proudly served his nation in the US Navy in WWII, as well as serving in his community and church. He volunteered as a fireman, was a Christian school bus driver, and a church Deacon. His love of travel and adventure brought him and his motor home throughout almost all of the US states, including Alaska twice, and down to the Yucatán. He touched many lives and will be forever missed. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 1-5 P.M. at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel, 111 South Palm Avenue in Ripon. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11A.M. at First Christian Reformed Church, 305 Boesch Drive in Ripon. Memorial donations may be made to Ripon Christian Schools, 435 Maple Avenue in Ripon, or a charity of your choice.
