Erlene Kay Price

January 22, 1939 – March 25, 2021

 

Erlene Kay Price passed away in Stockton, California on March 25, 2021 at the age of 82. She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved late husband David Price.

Erlene was born in Stockton, California on January 22, 1939, to parents George and Elsie Markham, and she was a resident of Escalon, California for the last 41 years. In her younger days, Erlene was a bus driver for Turnbull and Turnbull for a span of 5 years, and she played on the Turnbull and Turnbull softball and the basketball team as well. Erlene also attended Concordia College in Oakland and achieved her Associates Degree.

Erlene met David Price, and the pair wed on July 14, 1979. From then on, she was always by his side. She and David owned and operated an almond ranch, and they treated their employees as though they were their own family. Together with David, Erlene learned to fly. The pair were well known for their many years of service rescuing dogs, sometimes housing as many as 25 at a time on their ranch. Even recently, they cared for a total of 12 dogs at the time of their passing.

Erlene loved to bowl, and enjoyed taking trips to the casino. She also enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with friends and family. Erlene was known to have a heart of gold, she was always very generous, and she deeply cared for her family and friends.

Erlene is preceded in passing by her beloved husband of 41 years, David Price; and a granddaughter, Regan Noel Freitas. Erlene is survived by her children, Christine (Regan) Gilstrap of Arkansas, Carla Green (Jennifer Carter) of Escalon, Noel (Becky) Price of Cabo San Lucas, Tim (Stacey) Price of North Baja, Mindi Price of Escalon, and Clarence “Rusty” (Phuong) Jones of Sacramento; Grandchildren, Kara Green, Diana Cain, Sam Guilliams, Rianna Stoll, Georgia Briscoe Price, Wren Dylan Malone and Kellon Simon Malone; great grandchildren, Serena Green, Mercy Cain, Anaya Cain, Jubilee Cain, Nathan Cain, Aaron Frietas, Ashton Freitas, Blake Freitas, Magnolia Stoll and Becket Stoll; and siblings, Kenneth Markham (Bobbie) of Santa Rosa, and Gayle Baxley (Glenn) of Reno, NV.

A visitation will be held Tuesday March 30, 2021 4:00-7:00pm at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St., Escalon. A chapel service will be held the following day, Wednesday, March 30 at 10:00am, followed by a graveside service at Burwood Cemetery, 28321 East River Road, Escalon.

In lieu of memorial flowers, donations may be given in Erlene’s name to Best Friends Animal Society, www.bestfriends.org, or to the Salvation Army, www.salvationarmy.org.
