Grace Madonna Taylor

September 15, 1928 ~ August 17, 2021 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Tribute

Grace was born to JR Caffey, an oil drill man,  and Vena Dolly Suggs right before the Great Depression.  After the death of her father in 1935 from a car accident, her mother moved her and her 2 sisters to live with her grandparents in Mena, Arkansas.  Times were hard then, so eventually her entire family picked up and moved via train to the Central Valley of California to find work.  Grace met and married the love of her life, Mr. Hardy Joe Taylor, on August 24th, 1945.  Hardy preceded her in death and went to be with Jesus after 52 years of marriage back in April of 1998.   They had 6 children: Mr. David D Taylor (wife Becky) of Timnath, Colorado;  Mrs. Virginia Batterton (husband Donald) who preceded her in death (1948-2020), Mrs. Patricia Ward (husband Larry) of Pueblo West, Colorado; Mr. H. Wayne Taylor (wife Carol) of Oakdale, California;  Mrs. JoAnn Brooks (husband Steve) of Escalon, California;  and Mrs. Ruth Heard (husband Neal) of Oakdale, California.  She also left behind 2 sisters and 2 brothers:  Mrs. Laverne Helwick of Citrus Heights, California and Mrs. Carol Faye Milligan of Marshfield, Missouri; Mr. Darrel McMillan of Ozark, Arkansas, and Mr. Bill McMillan also of Arkansas.  She spent her last few months in the care of her granddaughter, Mrs. Wendy Grace Forbes, in Ione prior to her final passing.

Grace left behind  14 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and many great, great grandchildren as well .   Grace was a loyal homemaker, talented artist and she loved to just visit with people.  She blessed others with  warmth, love, and hearth no matter the sacrifice. She was a long-standing member of the Escalon Church of Christ. Grace’s southern charm and hallmark, “Y’all come back now,  ya hear”, will be greatly be missed in the hearts of all she left behind.  Services will be delayed until late September.  In lieu of flowers please honor Grace with a donation to the American Cancer Society.
