Hubert Van Vugt

Hubert "Van" Jozef Van Vugt, 87 of Ripon, California left this world to be with our maker, Thursday, April 12, 2018 at his home.

Hubert was born April 3, 1931 in Nuth, Netherlands. Witness to the tragedies of WWII as a child, he worked in the coal mines of Holland for 9 years and eventually went to Electrician Trade School after which he immigrated to Kitchener, Canada where he worked for five years as an Electrician before moving again and settling in Ripon, CA. where he continued to work as an Electrician for 28 more years. After his retirement from Libbey Owens Ford he volunteered for 18 years working with the Ripon Police Department (VIPS). He was a talented musician with music being his lifelong passion. He played in several bands and for many local elderly care facilities. He will be remembered as "Van the Music Man"

Hubert is survived by his wife of 33 years Pauline of Ripon, CA., son Robert L. Van Vugt and wife Karen of Meridian, ID.,  daughter Lillian M. Shabbar and husband Amer of Salida, CA.,  step daughters Patti A. Hendrix and husband Norman of Riverbank, CA. and Debbie A. Sikma and husband Will of Ripon, CA. Eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Gertrude, both brothers John and Tony, his first wife Tina M. Van Vugt (Stevens) and daughter Marlene T. Blankenship.

Visitation will be Wednesday, 4-18-2018 4:00pm to 7:00pm and Remembrance of life Service on Thursday 4-19-2018 11:00am both to be held at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel 111 S. Palm Avenue, Ripon CA. 95366 (209)-599-3413
