Ida Mendes Fontes

Ida Fontes peacefully passed away March 26, 2021 at the age of 88 in Modesto, Ca. Ida was born November 27, 1932 on the Terceira Island in the Azores, she was born to Domingos and Maria Mendes. Ida was a very loving mother and grandmother and loved animals, she was hard working and tough as nails and could be feisty at times but always had her faith and love for Jesus as she prayed the rosary daily.

Ida is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Espinola of Escalon and Betty Gregorio (Manuel) of Modesto; her grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Gregorio of Modesto, John and Frank Espinola of Escalon and her sister, Judiete Mendes of Portugal. Ida is preceded in death by her husband, John Fontes; son in-law, Candido Espinola; her parents, Domingos and Maria Mendes and 22 siblings.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 19399 CA-120, Ripon, Ca 95366, April 6, 2021 with a viewing at 9:00 a.m., Recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., following committal at the Galt-Arno Cemetery, 14180 Joy Drive, Galt, Ca 95632.
