Jeanette De Winkle

Jeanette (van der Gaast) De Winkle, age 99, died peacefully on January 10 in Ripon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert. For 68 years she was a loving, faithful and Godly helpmate. An early example of this is when, after two years of marriage, and their first child, she honored her promise to “go where he would go” when Albert decided to emigrate from the Netherlands to California. She was also predeceased by a brother and a grandson.

Jeanette is survived by her children: John and Sandy (Modesto), Bert and Tina (Melba, ID), Alice and Glenn Forbes (Sonora), Elroy and Connie (Ripon), Gary and Carol (Kennewick, WA), and Ray and Linda (Grand Rapids, MI). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and numerous great, and great-great grandchildren, and a brother and sister in the Netherlands.

Jeanette was born in the Netherlands December 4, 1921, on a dairy farm. In 1948, she emigrated to Ripon with Albert and son John. She had a love for God’s majesty as revealed in creation, and her home was always filled with music (particularly hymns) and flowers. She was a superb homemaker and her life’s work was faithfully serving her family. In 2013, she became a resident of Bethany Home’s Skilled Nursing unit, receiving loving, supportive care, for which her family is grateful.

Her family treasures her example of a Godly wife and mother and is comforted by assurance of her future.

Jeanette's funeral services will be private.

Her family requests that any memorial gifts be sent to Bethany Home in Ripon.
