Jerald Paul Pasma

Jerald Pasma was born on February 3, 1956 and went home to his Lord and Savior on September 21, 2021.  Jerry spent his entire life in Ripon, attending Ripon Christian Schools and graduating from Fresno State University.  He was a lifelong member of the First Christian Reformed church. Jerry developed a love for camping and fishing growing up.  Family camping trips were adventures in seeing how far off the beaten path you could go.  He instilled an appreciation for God’s creation in his own family during many memory-making trips together.

In 1990 he was asked to help in establishing residential care for adults with disabilities.  This group saw the need to create homes where each resident would be loved and respected as the unique individual they are while guiding them to reach their full potential.  For the last 19 years, Jerry has been the Executive Director of Sierra Salem Christian Homes which has grown to four homes, the most recent home providing an advanced level of care. Jerry had a passion to provide this care and was relentless to improve the lives of those often seen in this world as having less worth.

Jerry was pre-deceased by his parents, Bill and Gertrude Pasma, and brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Christie Pasma. He is survived by his wife Betty of 40 years, four children, Nathan(Kendra), Kara, Joel(Cait), and Jonathan(Charlotte) and two granddaughters, Lily and Theresa. He is also survived by siblings Bill(Sharron), Ron(Diane), Lisa(Mark) Humphreys, Don(Maria) Brouwer and Jeff(Karla) Brouwer and mother-in-law Clara Brouwer.
