John Lima

John Lima passed away peacefully at his home in Modesto on May 18, 2023 at the age of 96.

 John was born one of 12 children on November 10, 1926 to parents Antonio and Maria Lima in Boston, Massachusetts.  

John has been a resident of Modesto, Ca for the past 15 years.  

John had a love for laughter.  When he entered a room his presence brought joy to everyone he encountered.  He never let the obstacles of life bring him down.  Through his example he taught his family to embrace life to the fullest with a positive perception.  He will be remembered for his happy go lucky attitude toward life and his ability to make friends everywhere he went.  He loved to watch westerns, entertain with his family, friends and just be around people.

 In John’s words, “Everything is copacetic.”

John leaves behind his children, Marie James, John Cinelli, Patricia Rettie, Katherine Seals, Willie H. Perry, John Michael Lima, Dorothy Ochoa, Laural Lee, Joseph W. Lima, Marlene Aubry, Raymond Lee and Lavina Johnson along with over 60 grandchildren and over 140 great grandchildren.  Sister Helen Pina. He is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Edna Lima, his son John Robert Lima and his daughter Donna Santill.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Lima family.  His funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 30, 2023 beginning at 12 PM at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel.
