John Salvin IV

John M. Salvin IV lived his life with an unflinching 'go for it' attitude that people admired. He was born on December 14th, 1965 in Oakland California to John and Marylyn Salvin. John will always be remembered as someone who loved his family and friends fiercely with a deep commitment that made people feel safe and loved. 

As a boy John kept his parents, older sister, and younger brother on the edge of their seats always wondering what unpredictable fearless feat John would be trying next. He lived in Oakland for his first nine years, getting a reputation as the kid 'to not mess with'  even though he never raised an offensive hand to any one. People could just tell he always meant what he said and he was fearlessly capable of handling himself and protecting others. He was sharp witted and curious, inclined to take something apart just to see how it worked, which later in life made him a great handy man, and the owner of John Salvin's Property Maintenance Services : PMS for short, another indication of his wit. 

 As a father John raised his children with the same sense of adventure that  he craved as a kid. He  kept them smiling and ready for the next project. John's wife Susie remembers how he could always calm each of the children with his presence and straight forward guidance. Onlookers held their breath watching John parent, like when he lovingly tossed his kids in the air, or carried them about by their overall straps but the kids always felt safe and had huge smiles on their faces.

As a young mand John loved flying you-control model airplanes with his Dad, and then more recently playing flying combat games online.  He also loved playing video football games with his younger brother every Monday night . John burst with pride as he shared stories about his Airforce Senior Airman daughter Kelly who works with the F-22 planes. Kelly loved working on cars and other projects with her dad and she plans to  carry on his legacy of mechanics and working with her hands. John's oldest daughter Mary Lynn is married to  US Marine Sergeant in recon Kevin  Dito and they have baby Scarlett who is two and a half, and the total apple of "Pappy's" eye. He adored being a Pappy and Scarlett would wait by the window giddy for his return from work. Mary Lynn shares her dad's love of soccer and played with her mom and dad on a co-ed soccer team for the last five years. 

John's son John the fifth, better knows as Jack loved working with his dad fixing houses. And Jack's love of trains was a favorite topic of conversation. John's youngest son Tommy 'T-Boy' adored his Dad's practical jokes. Tommy looked to his dad to help him through any hard times, and shared his love of garbage processing with his dad who took him to the Recycling Center  to check out the big trucks.

John as a child was always wandering around , worrying his mom about where he had gone, but he always knew to come home because he knew home was a placed he was loved. So as an adult he was the one that kept all the traditions of the holidays alive and wanted everyone together. For the frequent family celebrations at himself mom and dad house, he would man the barbecue grill for his mom; Grammy. And then mark the end of the day by making everyone scones (a recipe from his dad's grandmother). Unless there was a Shark's hockey game on then everything would have to wait! 

John's favorite place to be was at the family cabin. He and his brother Kyle would take trips together each year. And the whole family enjoyed winters and summer vacations together in the same neighborhood that his great grandparents had their family cabin. He was on his way to the cabin with his soulmate Susie to celebrate 27 years of marriage when suddenly heart failure took him from us much too soon. So this will be John's final resting place and the place where people will visit and know he is at peace .

John's two sons have Autism that requires them to be cared for in their adulthood. A trust fund has been established to which friends and family can donate so that John and Susie will know that the boys will always be cared for.
