Tribute

John Venturella, Jr. a resident of Ripon, CA passed away in Ripon on Monday, July 4,  2022 at the age of 87.

John is survived by his loving wife Ann of 59 years, his daughters, Elisa (John) Belletto of Escalon, and Christina Federico of Fresno, his 4 grandchildren, Ryan & Nathan Belletto, Dean & Lucas Federico and two great grandchildren, Isabella & Ethan Federico.

He is also survived by his two sisters, Beatrice Johnson and Ruth Cannizzaro and several nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Erma Venturella of Escalon and by is father-in-law & mother-in-law Albert and Ruth Nunes of Manteca.

John Venturella Jr. was born July 26, 1934 in Ft Cobb, Oklahoma to John & Erma Venturella and raised in Escalon, CA. He was a graduate of Escalon High School.  After graduation, he was drafted into the Army.  He was stationed at Camp Hanford, Washington and went to Chemical, Radiological, and Biological Warfare School.  John graduated from Modesto Junior College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo majoring in Ag Business Management and a minor in Food Processing.  John worked for Hunt Wesson Foods in Yuba City, Niagara Chemical in Hughson as a licensed Pest Control Advisor, and for Tri Valley Growers Field Department retiring in 1996.  He was a past member of the Yuba City Lions Club and Sportsmen of Stanislaus in Modesto.  He was a member of the California Association of Pest Control Advisors, San Joaquin Water Coalition, San Joaquin County Farm Bureau, and Blue Diamond Growers.  He was a former coach of little league baseball in Salida and Escalon. He was a sports enthusiast of football, basketball and baseball. He was a big fan of Ripon High School Athletics and a former president of the Ripon High Booster Club.  John and Ann traveled to many U.S. States, Europe, China, and the Caribbean. 

John was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He was member of St Patrick’s Church (Ripon) and was formerly active in the Saint Vincent de Paul Society at St. Francis of Rome Church (Riverbank).  His strong faith in God and his Catholic religion was very important to him.  John was an extremely hard working man and a perfectionist. He was the one everyone went to when answers were needed.   He was a book of knowledge on many levels.  He would come home from his day job to work in his almond orchard that he loved.  It became his hobby in retirement.  John never met a stranger.  He could start a conversation with anyone.

Deegan Funeral Chapels is honored to serve the Venturella family.  A funeral mass is scheduled for Tuesday, July 19th at 10:30 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church followed by a committal service at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
