John Louis Yanak

John Louis Yanak passed away March 8, 2021 at the age of 69 in Modesto, California. John was born August 19, 1951 to Francis and Dolores Yanak in Seattle, Washington. John was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. John’s focal point in life was always family. His enthusiasm for life and leadership skills naturally made him the ringleader and organizer of all thing’s family. His spreadsheets and planning emails are legendary within the family. John was always there for family, a distant relative or friend. It did not make a difference to John, he was “all in” with help, support and advice.

John helped several generations of family to grow with a better understanding of what it is to love and let others know you loved them. John was truly an amazing man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

John retired from a very successful career from J.R. Simplot Company. Throughout John’s career, he was a chef, oil worker in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and held almost every significant operational job in the petrochemical industry. John was the boss most of us never had but always wanted, his compassion, mentoring and understanding allowed him to see qualities in people they did not see themselves.

John is survived by his wife of 25 years, Michelle; children, Donna (Brent), Tara (Alfonso), Kendra, Matt (Susan), Joe and Michael; grandchildren, Alicia, Terry, AJ, Maddox, Ian and Charlotte; His mother, Dolores; siblings, Frank (Nancy), Joe (Peg), Jim (Julie), Kathy (Dave), Karen (Tom), Mary (Brian), Sue (Dion) and Sarah (Phil). John was preceded in death by his son, Daniel and father, Francis.
