Kennith Ray Doom

October 25, 1941 ~ September 24, 2021 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Tribute

Kennith Ray Doom of Ripon, Ca., passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the age of 79. After years of chronic pain from Osteoarthritis and declining bone health, Kennith passed away with his beloved wife and gold star caregiver, Mabel, and his children by his side. Kennith was born in Paris, Arkansas on October 25, 1941 to Vernon & Mary Doom. He was the 2nd born child of 4. His living siblings are Betty Wood of Prairie Grove, Arkansas and Larry Neal Doom of Ripon, California. He and his family moved to California when he was a teenager. He always referred to himself as “The Ripon Arkie”. Kennith graduated from Ripon High School and attended Modesto Junior College. He worked at Simpson Paper Company in Ripon for over 30 years as a supervisor in the shipping department. This is where he met his wife Mabel, who he has been married to for 58 years.

Ken loved sports and the great outdoors. Over the years he was involved in numerous bowling leagues, softball teams, and loved to hunt, fish and camp. As his body declined, it made it hard on him to be physically involved in all the activities that he loved, so he changed from being a participant to a sideline onlooker and cheerleader. He tried to go to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events and activities first with the aid of a cane, then walker and finally a wheelchair. In his later years, when he couldn’t be physically active, you would find him in his recliner either reading a western book, ordering flower bulbs from catalogs for their yard, watching an old western, a sporting event or a hunting show. Family was an important component for him and he was always happy to have a visit or phone call from his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He was always curious about what was going on in their lives even until the very end of his life.

Kennith was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill Doom and great-granddaughter Jayden. He is survived by his wife, Mabel Doom; children, Doug (Tami) Doom and Linda (Doug) Wever; grandchildren, Tiffany Doom, Trenton (Lee Ann) Doom, Trevor Doom, Erin Wever and Claire Wever; great grandchildren, David White III, Calilove Yangose, Payton Doom and Tanner Doom. A graveside service only is planned for, Thursday, September 30, 2021 @ 1:00 pm at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 E. River Road, Escalon, CA. 95320.
