Leonard Enserink passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 15, 2021 at the age of 89. Leonard was born on August 22, 1931 in Ripon to his late parents, John and Alice Enserink. Leonard has been a lifelong resident of Ripon, graduating from Ripon Christian High School, farming almonds and egg production and later distributing Shaeffer oil.
After high school, Leonard enlisted in the Navy and was stationed on the USS Monterey. This allowed him to travel and visit, Cuba and Honduras among other places. He married his high school sweetheart, Letha, while stationed in Pensacola, Florida. The two returned to Ripon where Leonard farmed and they raised their family.
Leonard was involved with many organizations including, United Republicans of California, California Farm Bureau and Ripon Rotary. He was dedicated to the Gideons where he spent 20 years distributing bibles. Leonard was a man of God and led a life of service to the Lord. He was a founding member of Zion United Reformed Church where he often served as an elder. He will be remembered for his faithful heart and his steady wisdom.
Leonard leaves behind his loving wife of 68 years, Letha Mae, his children, Steve Enserink (Shirley), Janese Vermeulen (Ed) and Char Vant Voort (Harry), 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Leonard is preceded in death by his daughter and son in law, Laurie and Ken Viss.
