Lillian Elizabeth Vanderlinden

Lillian Elizabeth (Engelberts) Vanderlinden April 7, 1931- April 30, 2021 

Modesto, California. Lillian was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. As a young girl she endured the hardships of World War II in Europe. After the war she worked as a switchboard operator for Shell Oil, where she also met her future husband. A few years after she and Hans were married, they emigrated to Eugene, OR with their two young daughters.  

After a brief stay, they moved to the Bay Area where Hans again took a job at Shell Oil. In 1972, Hans transferred to the Shell plant in Modesto, where Lillian enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an accomplished pianist and organist, and an excellent cook. With her husband, they travelled to all 50 states and numerous countries throughout the world.  

She is survived by her children, Els (Kirk) Sessions, Hanneke, Mark, and Eric (Beverly) Vanderlinden; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Hans, and a great grandson. Private burial at Burwood Cemetery.
