Loren Jay Schemper

Loren Schemper, age 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 27, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Prairie View, Kansas to John and Hattie Schemper on July 24, 1937. His family moved to Ripon, California when he was a young boy, and he remained in California the rest of his life. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Vrieling, and they have celebrated 64 years of marriage. They have 4 children, Darlene (Gary) Fox, Linda (Dennis) Doud, Bud (Jill) Schemper, and Cheryl (Mike) Ramey. They were also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Loren was employed as a truck driver and farmed almonds. He enjoyed R.V. travels and ocean trips and working in the backyard shop making many beautiful things from wood pieces. As a lifelong member of Calvary Church, he served as Elder, Deacon, on many committees. He was a volunteer fireman for Ripon Fire District and received a lifetime membership award in 1994 for 30 years of service. He was an honorable man, loved his wife and children, and will be sorely missed. A Memorial Service will be held on January 5, 2019 at Calvary Church in Ripon at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Ripon Fire District, Bethany Home, Calvary Memorial or Community Hospice.
