Louise Rose Zumbach

Louise Zumbach passed away peacefully on December 29, 2020 at the age of 89. She was born on January 26, 1931 to Dominik and Agnes Inderbitzin in Modesto, CA.  She was the youngest of six children.  

As a child when she saw the school bus drive by, she always thought it would be fun to be a school bus driver.  In 1951, Louise married the love of her life, Hans Zumbach, who immigrated from Switzerland.  They had five children.  When they moved to Pleasanton and the youngest started school, she took a job with the Pleasanton Unified School District where she worked for 27 years.  She started with her childhood dream job as a school bus driver, then later became Director of Transportation.  When asked how she could handle driving a bus full of kids, she simply said it's no different than driving my car with five kids jumping around in the back seat.  

Louise loved spending time with her family and friends, attending Swiss events, bowling and traveling. Her favorite trip was in 1970 when the entire family of seven went to Switzerland for nine weeks.  Louise was also known as being a second mom to many.  She had a knack for finding people that had nowhere to go for a holiday.  There were many times we had extra guests at the Zumbach home.  We fondly referred to these guests as our family orphans.  Louise was always so loving and giving.

She is survived by her daughters:  Linda, Patty (Hans), Nancy (Ozzie); sons Hans (Karen) and Ernie (Claire), 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by husband Hans (1989) and five siblings.

A private double funeral service for Louise Zumbach and Franzel Zumbach will be held for immediate family only.  Remembrances can be made to the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club, P.O.Box 373, Ripon, CA  95366.
