Lucy Lorraine Bettencourt

Lucy Bettencourt passed away peacefully on June 27, 2019 in Ripon, Ca. at the age of 95. Lucy was born to Joe & Maria Vieira on May 31, 1924 in Hollister, Ca. Lucy was one of 8 siblings and the first to graduate from High School. After graduation Lucy went on to become a bookkeeper for Bank of America in Hollister CA. in 1943. Before relocating to San Jose she met Tony Bettencourt one evening while attending a dance. After coming home from the war Tony and Lucy married in 1945. They had two sons, John and Jim. Lucy was a wonderful homemaker and loving mother and wife to her family.

While having a passion for numbers, she also took great pleasure in painting and loved watching the birds fly around in her beautiful garden. Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, 7 siblings and her husband of 68 years, Tony. Lucy is survived by her 2 sons, John Bettencourt (Geri), Jim Bettencourt (Linda), grandchildren, Kristina Keller (Dan), Jennifer Bettencourt, Hollie Bettencourt-Young (Brian), Heather Bettencourt, and great grandchildren, Ryan, Leah and Harper.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass will be held on July 12, 2019 at 11:30AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Escalon, Ca.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation be made in Lucy’s name to any Hospice or charity of your choice.
