Luetta D. Denman

Luetta Dickerson Denman passed away peacefully on April 15, 2017 in Ripon, California at the age of 102.  Luetta was born the second of five children to April and Winnie Dickerson on December 6, 1914 in Dike, Texas.  Luetta has been a resident of San Joaquin County for the past 34 years.  

Luetta loved to travel and explore.  She and her husband, Thomas, homesteaded in Soldotna, Alaska in 1957 where they helped pioneer and build a community in the wilderness that still thrives today.  They also were involved with commercial fishing in Cook Inlet (AK) and enjoyed hunting and spending time in the outdoors.  Luetta will be remembered for her generosity and willingness to help others.  She will be deeply missed as a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend to many.

Luetta leaves behind her children, Georgia Cassidy (Larry) and Owen S. Denman (Diane) along with 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.  Luetta is preceded in death by her 4 siblings and her husband Thomas W. Denman.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel.  A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, April 21 at 11:00 AM at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon.  Remembrances in Luetta’s memory may be made to Bethany Home in Ripon, California.
