Madaline Garcia, 61, of Salida, passed away on March 31, 2021, in her home. She was born to Abraham and the late Frances De Leon, on August 7, 1959 in Stockton, CA. Madaline, better known as Maddy to her friends and family, attended St. Mary’s High School and Humboldt State University.
Madaline married Tony Garcia in 1982. Throughout their 38 years together, they resided in both Stockton and Salida, California, and Walldorf, Germany.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Tony; her two children, Kelly Edwards and Tony Garcia Jr; her father, Abraham De Leon; her siblings, Kim De Leon, Abe De Leon, and Michelle De Leon; her two grandchildren, Colten and Victoria Willard; and her pet dog, Benny.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances De Leon.
In her earlier years, Maddy was a natural athlete, having played basketball, softball, and volleyball competitively. When not on a court or field, Maddy could likely be found at the concert of one her favorite rock bands or beating whomever she was playing at a decidedly accomplished game of Rummy. Over the years, Maddy became an avid quilter, fisherwoman, and reader. If she wasn’t spending her time on a quilting project, there was nothing better to her than being out in nature with a fishing pole and a good book. She would pass up both of these pastimes however, to spend time with her grandchildren, who she loved like no other.
A viewing will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM with a funeral service directly following at Deegan-Ripon Memorial Chapel, 111 Palm Ave., Ripon.
