Maike Hobbs

April 7, 1940 - September 15, 2021

Maike, Mom, Omi, Great Grandma, Mother, Sister, Daughter, Aunt and Friend and so much more to so many.  Born April 7, 1940, in Germany to parents, Peter Wilhelm Fink and Maria Frederike Caroline Cecilie Ketelson. Brother Hans Jochen Fink, Sister Margarete (Gretal) Bahlmann. Sons Richard (Lisa) Root, Robert Root. 4 grandchildren, Brittani (Andrew) Baker, Brian (Katie) Root, Lawson Root and Halle Root. 5 great grandchildren, Aubree and Kolten Baker, Grace, Charlotte and Savannah Root.

Maike was born on a Sunday. A day named in honor of the sun. This is definitely fitting for her as she loved anything outdoors. Proof of that was a beautiful yard with many flowers and not one weed. Maike was a very motivated women that came to the US in 1961. She was sponsored by Deet Eichel and Family. She became a citizen and a proud American. Starting a family and living the American dream was a sense of pride in her life.

Self-educated and rose through the ranks of the car business while always taking care of her boys. She most always negotiated a new car as part of her salary package. She always enjoyed driving the new cars and taking country drives. The hills around Modesto reminded her of home.

Maike had a strong mind and “Old School” Etiquette. She taught us how to work hard and always dream big. Never give up.

She was an all-around good person.  She would say what was on her mind whether you liked it or not. No reason for any of us to be offended because she was always looking out for our best interest. Maike had a sassiness right till the end of her life.

We will forever hold her in our hearts.
