Tribute

Marilyn O. Wedegaertner, wife, mother, and grandmother, born August 4, 1927 in her Grandfather’s house in Fresno, CA, died peacefully at home on February 4, 2021. She grew up in the Central Valley of California but moved to Stanislaus County when she married Oscar when she was 25.  For the next 50 years she kept the books and worked on their walnut and chicken ranch. She loved trailer camping with family and friends making countless trips across the Western United States, but she especially loved Pinecrest Lake and Pismo Beach. Marilyn was a lifetime member of the Salida Fireman Women’s Auxiliary and served as their President. She was instrumental in helping to establish the Auxiliary's annual fireworks fundraiser which began in the early 1960’s. Marilyn also volunteered for the Salida Library where she helped with the annual book sale and used her artistic talents to draw characters of children’s books onto felt that aided the librarians during story time. She volunteered countless hours to Stanislaus Union Elementary school not only while her children and grandchildren attended but for years after they graduated. Marilyn was always willing to help wherever she could and will be remembered for her constant smile and sense of humor.

She deeply loved her four grandchildren: Max, Joe, Emily, and Alex. Spending time with them brought her great joy.

Marilyn was married to her husband Oscar for 60 years until his death in 2013. She is survived by three daughters, Susan Wedegaertner, Kelly Thomas (Matt) and Debbie Kleinfelder (Jim) and grandchildren Max and Joe Thomas and Emily and Alex Kleinfelder.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Friends of the Salida Library  P. O Box 278, Salida, CA 95368.
