Dear family,
Last Thursday we attended the funeral of Antje Weststeijn, the daughter of uncle Gerard, who has been married to Jaap van Reeuwijk. Her sister Rie (Knoop) told us, that your mother/mother in law/grandmother had passed away. We got confirmation of that message from Alan in Missouri and he gave us these links to further information as well.
Thus we can express our sympathy to you all for the loss of this mater familias. Whenever we visited her -when being in California- we had the feeling she was the center of the family after father Jo passed away. Quite often we have visited her in Linden. Thus we have experienced how dificult her life got during the last 15 or 20 years and how she gradually lost her ability to walk and to speak.
We have known Nel from the time we attended primary school with her in Nieuw-Vennep and when visiting her, we often talked about "De Vennep" and many persons she had known so well in that village.
We wish you'll all will find comfort in the fact that her passing away may be a rescue for her from the difficulties she had to bear and that you will find strength in the many good memories you preserve of her better years.
With sympathy
Mien and Gerard Weststeijn, (children of the late Uncle Jan)

Dear family, Last Thiursdag, after the funeral of Annie of Uncle Gerard (Annie van Reeuwijk) her sister Rie told us, that Nel had passed away as well. We got confirmation of that event from our nephew Alan in Missouri as well as the websites. We have known your mother / mother in law ever since she attended primary school in Nieuw-Vennep, The Netherlands and visited her most of the times we came to California. Thus we realized how difficult life got for her during the last decades and we experienced how gradually she lost her ability to walk and to speak, whereas she very much loved to talk about the past and the people she had known in "De Vennep".
