Patricia Postma

Patricia Postma of Ripon was blessed with 99 ½ wonderful years with her family and was called home to be with her Lord on October 17, 2021. Patricia was born on April 20, 1922, in Britsum, Friesland, Netherlands to Jelle and Truntje Roorda and was the third of seven children where she grew up on a farm and orchard.

Patricia met the love of her life, Harry Postma, through her older brother and after Harry came home from the Navy in 1946 they were married. They lived in Holland for a few years and had two daughters. In 1953, they immigrated to Canada where they had three more children, a son, who passed away at 18months old, and two more daughters. In 1965 they immigrated to California to join their best friends from Canada who already had moved to California. They lived in Southern California for 13 years and after all the daughters graduated and got married, they then moved to Modesto in 1978 and then Ripon in 1983 where they had their house built and found a wonderful Christian community and a Christian Reformed Church.

Among her hobbies, were sewing, needlepoint, crotchet and knitting which she always donated to the church or Christian school fundraisers. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. She loved to visit the widows of the church and bring them baked goodies and anything else she could help them with.

Patricia’s love for the Lord and her family was displayed in all aspects of her life. Nothing gave her more happiness than spending time with Harry, her daughters, Tina, Effie, Marti and Juli, and all the wonderful grandchildren (15), great grandchildren (35), great great grandchildren (2).

Patricia is survived by her daughters and grandchildren: Effie Visser (Tony) of Ripon, CA, Marti Niemand (Jeff) of Alta Loma, CA and Juli Van Vliet of Harker Heights, TX. She is also survived by her sisters Jeltje Osinga and Renske Vandertuin of Friesland, Netherlands.

Patricia is preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Harry Postma, her son Martin Postma, and her daughter Tina Vandenakker.

She is also preceded in death by her sisters Aafke Roorda (Vanderwal), Tineka Roorda (Adema), and her brothers Sierk Roorda and Peter Roorda, all of Friesland, Netherlands.
