Pieter “Piet” Groenveld

June 7, 1929 – September 20, 2021

Pieter Groenveld passed away on September 20th, in Modesto at the age of 92. He was born on June 7, 1929, and he was the seventh born of nine children.

Piet was born and raised in The Netherlands; he then immigrated to the US in 1953 to work on a local farm. He was drafted into the US Army a year later, and served from 1954-1956. After completing his service, he worked at various dairies before starting his own in 1962. He then retired from the dairy business in 1980 to become an almond farmer. For many years Piet and his wife, Ethel, enjoyed annual trips to The Netherlands to visit friends and family and take in the scenery. He loved to ride his bicycle, shipped from Holland of course, around the neighborhood daily. Piet will be deeply missed by his family and friends, both here and home in The Netherlands.

Piet is preceded in passing by his Son, Walter, and all 8 of his siblings; Janie, Klaas, Lena, Marijt, Arie, Bert, Nel and Reijer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ethel Groenveld, and children; Mike (Jeanette) Groenveld; and Nel Groenveld and her partner, Hector.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Groenveld Family. A private graveside service will be held in his honor. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations payable to Escalon Community Ambulance.
