Remo Paolo Maggiora
10/30/1977 to 4/8/2021
Remo Paolo Maggiora, also known as “Mo”, age 43, of Ripon, California, passed away unexpectedly to be with our Lord on April 8, 2021, in Ripon, California.
Remo was born in Redwood City, California, on October 30, 1977. He graduated from Homestead High School in Cupertino. Married to Cora Albertoni for 15 years, his high school friend and lifelong sweetheart, and together they had a 9-year-old son, Paolo.
Remo was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished son, and caring older brother.
As early as his time in high school, Remo had his eye on Cora Albertoni. They started dating towards the end of the 90s and early 2000s. They were married in 2006 in Santa Cruz. For several years, they lived in a tiny condo in San Jose.
The words that best describe Remo are loving, loyal, fun, and “Mr. Personality.”
Remo, Cora, and Paolo moved to Ripon in 2016 to be close to Cora’s parents. Soon thereafter, Remo persuaded his parents, along with his sister and her family, to move to Ripon as well. By 2018, the family relocated and currently reside within steps of each other. It was a blessing that the family could live so close together, which was something Remo really strived for.
Remo was an awesome dad who looked forward to coming home every evening to make sure he was there before Paolo went to bed. He was able to attend all of Paolo’s soccer, baseball, and basketball games. It was a special blessing that Remo was able to spend his last days having fun at home and at the family cabin with Paolo during spring break. Paolo will always be his “Big Boy”.
Remo had many talents. He was an excellent cook and grill master. He could not wait to share pictures of his creations with family and friends. His barbequed Thanksgiving turkey was one of his specialties that his family looked forward to having every year. This last Easter was spent with his family perfecting his skills cooking on the rotisserie.
Remo took great pride in his vehicles. He also loved soccer, snowboarding, mussel foraging, and was an avid sports fan. He was especially fond of the family cabin in Emigrant Gap, California as it was his home away from home.
Remo was the first person to call if anyone needed help. He was Jack-of-all-trades, master mechanic, carpenter, and plumber. Remo loved to have everything perfectly organized to the point of re-organizing everyone else’s stuff to “his” satisfaction.
Outside of his family, Remo’s closest friends go as far back as grammar school. However, Remo never met a stranger. He loved inviting friends over for a barbeque, watch sports on TV, going on snowboarding trips, or inviting his friends to spend weekends at his family’s cabin.
Remo worked as a swing driver for FedEx. He made many friends in the short time he had at FedEx-Stockton. He also maintained his friendships with many coworkers at FedEx-Modesto and FedEx-San Jose. Before FedEx, he worked at Space Autobody Shop, Sunnyvale and CompUSA, Santa Clara.
Remo is survived by his wife, Cora; son, Paolo; parents, Giorgio and Paula Maggiora; sister, Daria Maggiora Brenton (Kevin); nephew, Nicolo; Uncle Guido Maggiora (Helen); Uncle Tony Vassalle (Mary); Godmother Joanne Blake; cousins, Raymond Vassalle, Claudia Maggiora, Michael Vassalle, Christopher Hill, and Danny Hill along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephew. He was pre-deceased by his grandparents, Ugo and Emilia Maggiora and Lino and Lucille Vassalle.
Remo will forever live in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who remember him fondly.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Modesto on May 4th, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Remo will be laid to rest at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Modesto after the mass service .
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the American Heart Association http://heart.org, or Tahoe National Forest Foundation http://nationalforests.org as an expression of sympathy.
