Richard Anthony Lial passed away peacefully on May 16, 2021 in Ripon, CA at the age of 85. Richard was born on February 2, 1936 in French Camp, CA to parents, Tony and Bernice Lial. He has been a lifelong resident of Escalon, CA. Richard served in the US Army from 1955 until 1961. After being discharged from the military, he returned home to Escalon where he went to work farming with his father. Richard was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

Richard leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Josephine Lial, his son, Richard Lial and his sisters, Marlene Callizo (Pete) and Janice Gookin (Tom).

Deegan Funeral Chapels is honored to serve the Lial family. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 26, from 4 to 6 PM followed by the rosary at 6:00 PM at Deegan Chapel in Escalon. A private family burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Richard’s memory to Escalon Ambulance or Bethany Home.
