Richard Lee Thom

February 6, 1959 ~ January 26, 2019 (age 59) 59 Years Old

Tribute

Richard died unexpectedly after suffering a stroke Saturday January 25 2019 at the age of 59

Richard was born to Bobbie and WWII, Korean Conflict veteran, John Anson Thom on February 6, 1959 in Alameda California. He leaves behind  his mother, Bobbie La Fraunce, stepfather Gene La Fraunce, of Lincoln Ca.,  wife Hillarie (Horn), sons, Ryan Thom, Queenstown, New Zeeland, Kevin Thom, Modesto Ca., Austin (Selena) Thom, Modesto Ca., James Ramirez, Lincoln Nebraska, Alex Ramirez, Modesto Ca., granddaughter, Raylin Thom, brothers, Steve (Wilma) Thom of Oroville, Dave Thom, Placerville Ca, Wayne (Juvie) Thom, Freemont Ca., and Donald (Beverly) Thom of San Ramon.

Richard was an avid sportsman throughout his life. He was a member of the Chabot College wrestling team while studying engineering, a longtime member of Dry Creek Trail Riders cycle club and skier.  He spent 33 years working as a machinist for Numeric Machinery of Freemont Ca., and most recently for Jackrabbit Equipment Manufacturers of Ripon. It was with the same tenacity he took on the roll of husband and father. In his too short life Richard was the “rock” when family members were faced with adversities either physical or emotional. He could be counted on without fail to be there for the family and friends and will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

A celebration of his life is to be hosted by Eric and Terri Mendes,
