Susan Naron

Susan Jane (Tyrrell) Naron, age 72 of Ripon, CA, passed away on May 7, 2022 of complications from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). 

Susan was born November 17, 1949 in Stockton, CA and was the daughter of Ben and Rose (Turk) Tyrrell. Susan lived the majority of her life in the Central Valley, graduating from Fresno State University and later settling in Modesto to raise her three daughters, before marrying her loving husband, Bill Naron and moving to Ripon. 

Upon retirement, she picked up golf and could frequently be found on the links of Palm Springs and San Diego. She also loved to be outside, spending hours a week gardening in her rose garden and exploring the hiking trails of Northern California. She also loved to bike ride and spend time with her family playing cards at nearly every holiday. She celebrated the holidays with a spirit that will be missed, although her tightly tied ribboning on presents will not.

She was passionate about others, dedicating her life to the social work field with Stanislaus County for more than 30 years. 

While an ALS diagnosis is devastating, Susan met it with the same determination that she displayed throughout her life. Her tenacity and strong Catholic faith enabled her to live with ALS for nearly nine years and see many life milestones for her children and grandchildren. 

She is survived by her three daughters, Erin (Jeff) Roberts of Roseville, CA, Traci Carlson and her husband, Greg Kubarych of New York, NY and Ashley Carlson of San Francisco, her step-children Cheryl (Josh) Smith of Hughson, CA and Marc (Jennifer) Naron of Las Vegas, her brother Gary (Carmen) Tyrrell of Stockton, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Naron, her parents, Ben and Rose Tyrrell, her sister-in-law Nancy Tyrrell and her niece, Gia Dodson. 

A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ripon, CA on Tuesday, May 17 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery at 3661 E. French Camp Road in Manteca.
