Theresa Marie Hallenberger

Theresa Marie Hallenberger, age 68, of Escalon, passed away peacefully at her home on March 24, 2018 as a result of heart disease.  She was born to the late Frank and Julia Hallenberger on September 14, 1949 in Danville, Illinois.

        She graduated from Schlarman High School in 1967 and worked at Hurletron Inc. from then until returning to school in January of 1970.  Graduating from DACC and then Eastern Illinois University in 1972, she began a teaching career at her alma mater, St. Patrick/Holy Family School, spending 32 years teaching many children including those of her friends and then their grandchildren. 

            Besides teaching, Theresa kept busy with many volunteer opportunities.  She was active in Delta Kappa Gamma, serving on the board of directors of Holy Family Credit Union and the Schlarman High School Foundation, and the City of Danville Planning and Zoning Commission and many other charities. 

         In 2004 she moved to Escalon, California to be closer to family.  There she ended her career after teaching kindergarten one year in Manteca, CA.  In the following years, Theresa enjoyed the quiet life on the family almond orchard with her dog, Chloe and time with her family, especially the three years she helped care for her great nephew, Grady Grieb.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, nephew, Hans F. Weber, and her sister, Regina Weber.

Survivors include her brother, Michael (Marlene) Hallenberger of Orinda, CA, brother-in-law Hans L. Weber of Escalon, CA, and nieces, Heidi (Barry) Sheldon of Darien, CT, Allison (Mike) Grieb and Adri Hallenberger, of San Francisco, CA, nephew Lex (Molly) Hallenberger of Lafayette, CA and four great nieces and three great nephews.  

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to to St. Mary’s of the Annunciation “Fall Festival 2018” in memory of Theresa Hallenberger, 1225 Olive Street, Oakdale, CA 95361 or the charity of your choice.  

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Hallenberger family. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, April 7th at 2 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oakdale.
