Thomas Stoy Clifton, Jr., passed away peacefully on October 20, 2019 at the age of 78. He was born on June 23, 1941 in Williston, South Carolina to Thomas, Sr., and Mabel Clifton. Tom has been a resident of Ripon for the past 33 years.
Tom was enlisted in the US Navy where he served on two aircraft carriers during the Vietnam War. He was extremely proud of his military service and honored to be a US Vietnam veteran. After the military, Tom worked for over 20 years as an engineer for Nabisco Foods. After retiring, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and riding his Harley Davidson cross-country. He was a member of the San Joaquin County Sportsman’s Club and VIPS (Volunteer in Police Service) for the Ripon Police Department.
Tom leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Carolyn Clifton, his daughters, Penny and Lynette, their husbands, and three grandchildren. Tom also leaves behind his brother, Oscar. He is preceded in death by his sister, Debbie.
Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Clifton family. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, November 7th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service with military honors is scheduled for Friday, November 8th, at 2:00 p.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
