Tribute

Ripon, California
November 14th, 1941 - April 3rd, 2024
Vicki Ann Schendel passed away peacefully in Ripon, California, on April 3rd, 2024. She was
born in San Francisco in 1941. Vicki grew up on Mason Street in San Francisco and attended
Presentation High School in the city. She was proud of her Italian culture - her heart was always
in San Francisco as she reminisced on the days she ran around North Beach with her friends.
She spoke fondly of the friends she made at Presentation and appreciated her Catholic
education - her faith was important to her. Vicki spent over 20 years in the real estate industry in
Modesto, California, but her main passion was taking care of her family.

Vicki had many different roles with the people in her life, from being a daughter, sister,
grandmother, and friend. Her favorite role was being a mother. Vicki had five children, all of
whom she stayed close to throughout her life. She was the perfect mother and always knew
how to put a smile on her kids’ faces with her quick sarcasm or acts of generosity.

Vicki was generous with her time - she was always willing to listen to those she loved. She was
a modern-day saint and her eyes always got big at any opportunity she had to make someone’s
day. She enjoyed going to the movies, playing the slot machines (especially the Double
Diamond machines at Black Oak Casino), spoiling her grandchildren, and shopping - more often
for others than herself. She was a believer in luck (hers was always good) and was grateful for
her life. Vicki radiated positivity.

Vicki is survived by her children, William Schendel, Karen (Mike) Blair, Mari (Mike) Vaughn,
Barbara (John) Mullin, Thomas (Katie) Schendel, and ten grandchildren. She is also survived by
her sister-in-law, Christine Gould, her nephew, Brannon Gould, and niece, Jenna Russell.

Her family would like to extend immense gratitude to the caretakers and staff at Bethany Home in
Ripon for their care and friendship during the last year of her life.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas H. Gould Jr. and Jeannette Gould, and her
brother, Thomas H. Gould III.
